Tobin (nickname meaning "To Be In") began making crushed pigments and crayon encaustics by the age of 8 at the side of a well in her driveway in Eastern Pennsylvania. She began painting at age 17, left home to go to the Rocky Mountains in 1978, moved to New England in 1980. She started selling work in early 1980's. "The beneficence of Nature" is the underlying theme in Tobin's art practice.
Art Statement
My work is based around connecting to my "deep" heart, the Effi mah between the third and fourth chakra. It is here that I feel most regenerated in every sense so I focus on that as I paint. I like to work with Nature Elements as I go because they are all very real to me and like to play with creating beauty.
