Q & A with Susun Weed ...

Hysterectomy- keep your ovaries

Susun answers a question from a woman calling into blog talk radio that is getting a hysterectomy at the end of the month and would like to know how to prepare her mind and body for that serious surgery. Susun asks if she has called Hysterectomy Education Resource Services, they say that more than 90% of women that call in are not in need of a hysterectomy. The woman is planning on getting everything removed and Susun tells why it is important to keep your ovaries. They talk about Nourishing Herbal Infusion's and how drinking a lot of water dilutes electrolyte balance and impairs the immune system. Susun goes over the process of making NHI's. Susun says fibroids are more common than pimples and talks about the criteria of when a hysterectomy is necessary. Susun tells of a woman who chose to have only the fibroid removed. They talk about cancer and how her doctor is only trained to remove women's body parts. Keep your ovaries! Removal of ovaries put you at high risk of heart attack. Gingko biloba tincture prevents ovarian cancer. Susun reads from her book

Down There Sexual and Reproductive Health The Wise Woman Way and the woman on the phone decides to keep her ovaries. This audio is 10 1/2 minutes in length.

Oat straw and gluten sensitivity

An email question is read from a woman with gluten sensitivity who wants to know about possible effects of drinking oatstraw. Susun makes a clear distinction between those with celiacs disease and those with gluten sensitivities. Susun says people often times blame gluten or lactose when there is something else going on. Gluten in oats is the easiest of the glutens to digest and ideally the oat straw that you are consuming does not contain the oats. Not worth giving up the benefits of oat straw because of a possible sensitivity. Susun says you can easily grow oatstraw and gives a suggestion of how to use the herb as a simple to see if the oatstraw will work for you. This audio is just over 4 minutes in length.
