Rosa Barrera, known as Rosatzin is a Xicana artist, from Los Angeles, California born 1993. Rosatzin considers herself a full spectrum painting priestess and her primary subject is the human psyche and soul. Her distinctive style mixes indigenous symbology with abstract expressionism. Her paintings explore knowledge, story, and memory of indigenous people. She creates visual stories that communicate: the goddess as origin, matriarchy, feminine empowerment in a patriarchal society, union of masculine & feminine, developmental stages of a human being, nature, soul development, and the life span of human beings.
